About the course
This tutorial demonstrates how Triple Friction Pendulum Bearings (TFPBs) can be used to protect bridge structures from earthquake loading through seismic base isolation.
You will learn how to define the nonlinear constitutive behaviour of a TFPB based on its frictional and geometric properties, assign it to SOFiMESH-C link elements, and perform a nonlinear time history analysis using recorded ground motion.
The workflow includes modelling, dynamic analysis, and performance assessment. Special attention is given to local forces, displacements, sliding regimes, hysteretic behaviour, and displacement capacity, enabling engineers to evaluate the efficiency and safety of seismic isolation systems.
What you'll learn
- Triple Friction Pendulum Bearing Modelling
- Nonlinear Bearing Constitutive Modelling
- Link Element Modelling in SOFiMESH-C
- Nonlinear Time-History Analysis under Seismic Loading
- Seismic Isolation Performance Assessment
