Excel-Driven Parametric Analysis

Excel-Driven Parametric Analysis

Course modified date: 15 August 2026

Connecting Excel with SOFiSTiK opens powerful possibilities for parametric modelling, automated calculations, and efficient design workflows. While SOFiSTiK Results provides convenient Excel export capabilities, transferring data back into SOFiSTiK has traditionally required either manual copy-and-paste operations or custom VBA solutions.

This course introduces two practical approaches for creating a direct link between Excel and SOFiSTiK. First, you will learn the established VBA workflow, where Excel acts as a powerful user interface for generating input data, controlling calculations, and automating repetitive tasks. This method provides maximum flexibility and allows you to build customised engineering tools tailored to your specific needs.

The course then explores the native CADiNP functionality introduced in recent SOFiSTiK versions, which enables direct access to Excel data without relying on external VBA programming. Using dedicated CADiNP commands, you can read spreadsheet data directly within your SOFiSTiK model, creating transparent and maintainable workflows entirely inside the SOFiSTiK environment.
